Jersey Lilies
As blooms go Jersey Lilies (Amaryllis Belladonna) are absolute show-stoppers and they pop up all over our island in gardens and hedgerows towards the end of summer. Despite their Jersey name they actually originate from South Africa but are considered to be our national flower a bit like the Welsh daffodil or the English rose.
The infamous Lily Langtry, our island’s other ‘Jersey Lily’, will forever be inextricably linked to this flower. Back in the day she was quite the socialite with as colourful a life as the beautiful flowers that share her nickname.
